The Shark Hoodie is genuinely harder to build well than a plain logo hoodie: it needs a proper full-zip that continues up over the hood, embroidered teeth and eyes in matched colour, and camo print density that lines up with retail. Entry-tier batches tend to skip stitches on the shark teeth or use a softer zip — if the Shark Hoodie specifically is what you want, it's worth asking us which tier gets those details right rather than ordering the cheapest option blind.
BAPE runs about one full size small compared to standard US sizing — a piece you'd normally take in a Large is closer to an XL in BAPE's cut. This is consistent across most of the catalogue, not just the Shark Hoodie, so size up if you're between sizes.
Nigo (Tomoaki Nagao) opened the first BAPE store in Ura-Harajuku, Tokyo, in 1993, and the Ape Head logo along with the ABC Camo pattern both arrived within the brand's first two years. The full-zip Shark Hoodie followed in 2005 and became BAPE's single most recognisable piece, retailing today for roughly $380 to $420 against an ABC Camo tee at $90 to $120. BAPE's collaboration history is deep enough that it's worth knowing the highlights before you search for a specific piece: adidas (multiple Superstar and Ultra Boost drops since 2016), Nike (Air Force 1 and Dunk collabs in the 2000s), Louis Vuitton (a 2024 collection with Pharrell as LV menswear director), KAWS (repeated collabs since the early 2000s featuring the Companion character), Coach, and Puma. Collab pieces move through the same album as core ABC Camo and Shark Hoodie stock, but availability is far less predictable — a collab that released years ago may or may not still be findable, so treat these as "ask us" rather than "assume it's there."
